Facebook for WooCommerce

Exciting news for those who have a WordPress website with WooCommerce as their shopping cart platform! A new extension was just released called Facebook for WooCommerce. this extension provides two basic pieces of functionality:

  1. When you set up the Facebook pixel and connect your product catalog, you can use dynamic ads to reach shoppers when they’re on Facebook with ads for the products they viewed on your website.  And, with the Facebook pixel set up, you can use Facebook ads reporting to understand the sales and revenue that resulted from your ads.
  2. Increase sales by creating an online Facebook store – It takes just a click to send your entire catalog to Facebook. Any changes made on your WooCommerce website are automatically synced with your Facebook shop. You can organize your products into collections and even tag them in photos to improve visibility and highlight your best sellers on both Instagram and Facebook. The Facebook shop section offers a beautiful shopping experience on all mobile devices, letting you showcase your products on any screen.

WARNING: Global Ransomware Attack

If you’ve done your best to stay away offline for the past two days so you could actually enjoy your weekend, you undoubtedly now find yourself trying to catch up on all the news surrounding WannaCry ransomware. This unprecedented malware attack began sweeping the globe late last week, and security researchers estimated that nearly 57,000 computers in more than 150 countries were infected by the end of the day on Friday. While the spread of this terrifying ransomware was slowed on Saturday, it was hardly stopped. As of Monday morning, more than 200,000 systems around the world are believed to have been infected.

WannaCry is far and away the most severe malware attack so far in 2017, and the spread of this troubling ransomware is far from over. This virus attack targets the Microsoft Windows operating system. The virus is spread through a phishing scam. If you’re not familiar with the term, phishing scams aim to either infect your computer with malware or to steal your personal information, including account passwords. Scammers accomplish this by […]

Do not think that you are not vulnerable just because you don’t use NextGEN Gallery or WordPress – the fact is that ALL software can be hacked. If the US government and major corporations can get hacked, be assured that you are a much easier target. If you have an ecommerce website you must take responsibility for it. Here are a couple of recent issues you need to be aware of.

Influencer Marketing

This past weekend I had the honor of speaking at the Rocky Mountain Gift Show at the Denver Mart. Much of the presentation revolved around digital advertising, but one of the areas that sparked a lot of interest was influencer marketing. You can view the entire 1 hour seminar at https://youtu.be/CrMi37e7J1E

  • Reach: Ability to deliver content to a target audience
  • Relevance: Strength of connection to a brand or topic
  • Resonance: Ability to drive a desired behavior from an audience […]

When Failure is Not an Option

According to one study, Ecommerce websites have about an 80% failure rate. Other researchers claim it’s as high as 97%. Why are these numbers so huge, and what can you do to insure your success online?

begging

Many claim one of the reasons the failure rate is so high is because an ecommerce business can be easy to set up and for only a small amount of money. Having created hundreds of ecommerce websites over the past 20 years, I can assure you that setting up an online store is NOT easy – it takes a significant amount of work. Professional photographs of every product from multiple angles, combined with well-written sales copy alone can be both time consuming and expensive, not to mention the technical aspects.

Too much competition is also cited as a reason for the high failure rate. With over 1 billion websites out there, this is in fact a real issue. Why would someone come to your website in the first place, and if they did manage to find there way there, what would make them buy from you?

find

Almost everything imaginable is now for sale on Amazon at prices that are hard for most people to match, so buying from your little commerce shop is unlikely. Yet, competition alone is the only reason ecommerce websites fail.

It takes more hard work to succeed online than offline because people can’t feel and see what they are buying. You have to be better than your physical competitors, in every aspect of your business. The reason Amazon has been successful is not because they have lower prices than everyone else. Its because they do EVERYTHING better than everyone else, including lower prices. If you want to compete in the online business world, there is something you absolutely MUST do. You must […]
