This week I had the opportunity to interview Chris Wiegman, the author of one of the most popular WordPress plugins, iThemes Security. Chris and I talk about securing your website and what some of the best practices are for keeping the hackers at bay. This information is great for anyone who runs a website, whether it is a WordPress site or something else. We discuss […]
I really enjoy sharing with my customers, WebStores University students, and followers what I learn about ecommerce. And one of the things I knew I wanted to do when I started doing these video interviews was to not just talk to other industry experts, but to have conversations with people who were in the trenches and actually making their own products and selling them online. This week I share with you a discussion I had with Jessica Peterson of Knot Brother Ties.
I own one of these ties and get compliments on it every time I wear it. But what does it take to create your own product, bring it to market, and sell it successfully online? I’m sure you will pick up some bits of knowledge this week that you can apply to your business. Check it out…
In my last blog post I showed you how Steve Olsher and I did a simultaneous live stream while recording a video. This ability to live stream your videos will absolutely be the next big thing to impact your business. Live video has actually been around for a few years – since webinars became available and then popularized by Google Hangouts. But now mobile apps are bringing this technology mainstream. Periscope, Blab, and Facebook Live are a few examples.
I recently attended an event where Joel Comm gave a demonstration about how to use these tools and it became obvious how this is going to revolutionize any business that takes advantage of it. Imagine for a moment that you are having an event at your store – it might be a sale, an appearance by a celebrity, a product demonstration, or just giving out free food. Now you can stream your event live to the Internet and build even more excitement and bring in more customers!
I am going to be doing a special presentation with Joel Comm on May 12th at 2:00pm Mountain Time. We will be doing this live on Blab.us and simultaneously broadcasting using Facebook Live. You won’t want to miss this! Put it on your calendar now!
Here’s how can participate: […]
On Monday I get this opportunity to do a live video stream on Blab with Tracy Malone. Like me, Tracy is a website designer who has been in business for almost 20 years. We are going to discuss the advantages (and disadvantages) to WordPress, and what business owners need to know about their WordPress website. Read more about WordPress Blab with Tracy Malone[…]
I spoke with Steve Olsher recently about a number of ways that people with physical stores who also run an ecommerce store can use the two to build upon each other. Most store owners are not taking advantage of leveraging their online stores with their physical shops and vice-versa. Steve and I discuss specific strategies you can use to boost your sales in both environments by providing education about the products and services you offer.
But here is the really cool thing…we recorded this with zoom.us while simultaneously streaming it live on Facebook. If you combine this approach with Facebook ads, the combination could make a powerful impact for your business. I will be discussing more about live video streaming in my next couple of posts, and you won’t want to miss this. Meanwhile, […]
As business owners, we often get excited about new technologies and try them for a while, but then stop using them. YouTube seems to fall into this category for many small business owners – you may have created a video back in 2006 or so and haven’t done anything with it since. This could be a big mistake – video is not only one of the hottest media on the Internet, but it is used as a significant indicator in Google search results. I sat down recently with local YouTube expert, Anthony Prichard, to discuss how ecommerce and brick-and-mortar stores could be using video to expand their marketing. Some of the topics and ideas we discussed were […]
