Now when you leave a review using Google Maps or Google Local results, you can add a photo or video to your review on Google. This can have a significant impact on your business. Here’s how:

Search for the business where you want to leave a review

In the Google My Business (GMB) listing on the right, you should see a button that says “Leave a Review”

Create a short link

If you are going to ask others to write reviews about your business, I suggest creating a short link that takes them directly to the place where they can leave a review. For example, with my site, you can leave a review on Google for WebStores by visiting https://webstoresltd.com/review. This will bring up the review box. Now you can add an image or video to your review by clicking on the add image button:

If an image is worth 1,000 words, then getting your customers to leave an image with their review can make a significant impact on how people searching for you respond to reviews. For example, if you are selling a service, showing a before/after image can explain a lot to someone considering your services. Here is an example screen shot of a website that I re-did:

Make it personal

Here’s the great thing about this: a review like this not only help my business, but it can help your business as well (since you are showing off your new website!). You could do the same for plumbing, hair salons, dental work, or whatever. Certainly if you bought a product, you could show the condition of the product or the results achieved from using the product. The goal of course is to get your customers to leave you a positive 4 or 5 star review.

Restaurants live for reviews, which is why you often see pictures of famous people who have eaten there hanging on the wall. But every business benefits from getting more positive reviews than their competitors. That’s the key: It’s not the actual number of reviews you have, but how many positive reviews you have compared to your competitors that improves your Google listing. If those reviews include a photo or better yet, a video testimonial, it can make a positive impact on your business.

The best time to ask for a review?

Tell your customer upfront that you are going to ask them for a review BEFORE you do something. Let them know that if they are happy with your product or service that you want them to leave you a review, as this is how you continue to help people. Then, immediately after (not a week later), ask them for the review. For example, I just gave you some great information that can help your business. Each week I give you valuable advice to help you grow your online sales. If you find this useful, I’d really appreciate you leaving me a review (with an image or video testimonial if appropriate!).

Give it a try!

Give it a try – I mean, if you have something nice to say. Here’s that link again: https://webstoresltd.com/review
