In my webinar last week, I demonstrated how you can go from and idea to creating real physical products using AI. In fact, we created an actual product during the live demonstration. Based on this, I came up with a new product that I am going to share with you today, and show you exactly how I did this. It’s a Catadoodle! (a cross between a poodle and a cat – the very latest in designer pets!)
Whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur or just starting to dip your toes into the e-commerce realm, the print-on-demand business model provides an accessible and highly scalable platform to showcase your creative skills.
Step 1: Get Creative with AI
The first step in creating your unique print-on-demand t-shirt is coming up with a catchy or funny saying. This can sometimes be a stumbling block, but fear not; artificial intelligence is here to lend a hand. Specifically, let’s enlist the help of ChatGPT.
For our catadoodle-themed t-shirt, we could ask ChatGPT, “Can you give me some funny and unique sayings about a catadoodle?” AI’s creativity is boundless, and it could come up with diverse suggestions such as “I’m a catadoodle cuddler” or “Half Cat, Half Poodle, Full Trouble!” Play around with different prompts until you find a phrase that you believe will resonate with your target audience.
Step 2: Bring Your Saying to Life with Midjourney
After selecting a unique saying for your t-shirt, the next step is to visualize it. Midjourney is a great tool to generate a fitting graphic to accompany your chosen saying. Given the right inputs, the platform can create visually appealing and highly customizable graphics based on AI technology.
Taking the saying “Half Cat, Half Poodle, Full Trouble!”, input this into Midjourney, then specify that you want an illustration of a mischievous catadoodle. The program generates designs based on the inputs, allowing you to choose the most appropriate one or make additional tweaks if necessary.
Step 3: Marrying Text and Graphic with Canva or Photoshop
Now that you’ve got a catchy phrase and a matching graphic, it’s time to bring them together using an image editing tool. Two of the most popular are Canva and Adobe Photoshop.
Both Canva and Photoshop offer a range of features that can be used to create compelling designs. Canva is especially user-friendly for beginners, while Photoshop offers more advanced features for experienced designers.
In these programs, you can play around with text positioning, fonts, and colors, ensuring that your text complements the graphic, and vice versa. Remember, simplicity is key. The goal is to create a design that is clear, visually appealing, and communicates your chosen phrase effectively.
Step 4: Uploading Your Design to Printify or Printful
Once you’ve created your design, it’s time to bring it into the physical realm. Printify and Printful are platforms that offer print-on-demand services. They print your designs on t-shirts (and many other items) and ship them directly to your customers, simplifying the logistics process.
Upload your finished design onto the t-shirt of your choice. Keep in mind the t-shirt color and how it will affect the overall look of your design. Once your design is uploaded, you can adjust its placement and size to fit perfectly on the t-shirt.
