I do a lot of online shopping – both directly from small vendors and from marketplaces like Amazon and eBay. But recently I was blown away by one seller’s extra touch. This was a simple thing to do (and something I’ve recommended for years), but it was the first time I saw someone actually do it. They included a simple “Thank You” note with my order.
Here was the crazy part: I ordered this product off of Amazon. When possible, I try to order from independent vendors, even when ordering through the big marketplaces as I like supporting small businesses. In this case, it was a bat house. When I opened the package, there was an envelope with this card:
When I opened the card, there was this note:
Obviously, the note is printed, not hand written, even though it uses a hand written font. But the effect of getting a note from the seller really made them stand out amongst all the other vendors I’ve purchased from recently. The only other thing they could have done was to have included some kind of incentive (perhaps a digital download about bats or a coupon for an additional purchase) where they would have collected my contact information instead of leaving me on Amazon’s email list instead of their own. I had written a previous article about hand written thank you notes that you might want to check out. Hopefully, this gives you an idea to try in your business!
Speaking of “Thank You” notes, I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has filled out my survey about how the pandemic affected their businesses and what they are doing as we come out of this. If you didn’t get a chance to fill it out yet, there is still time as I’m compiling the results. All answers are anonymous and you have the opportunity to win a projection monitor. Here is the link again.
I also want to say thank you to all the people that have written guest posts for my blog. These are posts that don’t typically end up in the emailed newsletter, but they offer some great information for those who visit the website (and even provide links back to their sites if appropriate). If you are interested in submitting an article for publication about something inspiring that you are doing in your business, please let me know.
