First be sure to check the minimum requirements for the new version. If they are met, create backup of your database so you will be able to restore it if for whatever reason you wish to downgrade your WordPress version. It is also a good idea to disable plugins because sometimes they can cause problems with the latest versions. To start the update process: Go to Tools › Upgrade. Click the button Update Automatically and you are done.
