This is the next part of my launch series, where I am documenting what I am doing with my book launch so that you can apply these techniques to your own product launches. today, I’m going to discuss getting productreviews and endorsements. For my book, “The Influencer Effect“, I’ve been blessed with a number of great endorsements, even before the book launch. People who are very big names in internet marketing have written me positive endorsements which I have been able to included in the “advanced praise” section of the book. You might be asking, “How did you do that?” The simple truth is, I asked them. Now you might ask these same people, and they would turn you down because I have a personal relationship with them. I know everyone of them. .I have been to their events. I have shared the stage with them. that makes it easier to ask, and know that you will get a positive response.
Most of you reading this post however are not in internet marketing, your business is selling physical goods or services. you simply use internet marketing to promote your business. Here’s the thing: if you are a doctor, get other doctors to endorse you. If you are an accountant, get someone from the IRS or the Social Security Administration to endorse you. Get your customers to endorse you. Never make it about yourself – even the people who contributed to the book did so not only because they are friends, but because they get additional exposure for their businesses. Build a relationship with people, then ask them if you can promote them with your new product. Always remember to make it about them. Here’s the back cover of my book showing some of the people who endorsed it or contributed to it.
Getting product reviews on the other hand can actually be more challenging. You are asking people to usee your product (or read enough of your book) that they can write an intelligent review that will actually help people make a purchasing decision. Once again, however, you need to ask them. I am asking you right now: please leave me a positive review on Amazon. Go to http://amzn.to/2vF516y, read enough of the book to get at least one actionable item out of it, them please leave me an honest review. If you purchase the ebook version before August 24th, you can get it for just 99 cents (that’s the launch week promo price, after that it goes back up to $10).
You need to get as many positive reviews as possible for your product. The fact is, people believe in the experiences of others more than almost anything else when it comes to making a buying decision. so ask everyone – your family, friends, colleagues, and of course, your customers and followers. Sadly, very few people will actually do this for you, so you have to take the next step: research people on amazon who have reviewed similar products, and ask them to review yours. Because of the way that Amazon works, “verified purchasers” have a bigger impact on your sales than sending someone your products for free. In other words, you are asking them to buy your product and write a favorable review. (You can make arrangements outside of amazon to compensate them for their time if they are a professional blogger or reviewer, but they are required to disclose this fact in the review).
Here’s how to find those reviewers. .Go to Google and type in http://www.amazon.com/review/top-reviewers “Top 1000 reviewer” “marketing”. Change the word “marketing” to whatever kind of reviewer you are looking for, such as “dog toys.” Be sure to type this string into the Google search box and not the browsers address bar. click on one of the reviews, and you will see who the review was written by. Click on their name.
This will bring up the reviewers page. Expand the “About” section where it says see more.
Not every reviewer will provider their email address under here, but some will. If they have given positive reviews to products that are similar to yours in the past, you can reach out to them and see if they will review your product.
While your goal is to get as many positive reviews as you can, you probably only need to get about a dozen using this method – once the reviews start coming in, the rest should happen organically.
